My last night in luang prabang was absolutely my favorite. I started the evening at the local night market and met a lovely group from the states. We shopped, shared some wine and went bowling (bowling alley is the only place in luang prabang open after the midnight curfew). Afterwards I climbed to the top of phousy (pronounced pussy) mountain with two dudes I met while bowling. Our intentions were to see the sunrise from up there but we didn’t make it; Laos police KINDLY asked us to leave. We then moved down to the Mekong and waited for the sun and the monks from there. Once the sun was up we went back to town to see the monks do their morning march to their schools and temples. Tourist and locals line up on the streets to offer them rice while they walk in silence. Once the monks are gone you’re left with tourists and their cameras 🙂
After the monks I headed to Lao aviation and booked a flight to chiang Mai. I could feel myself getting sick all week and it’s finally official. Today I’ll head to the doctor for some allergy meds and some MUCH needed vaccinations my doctor in the states told me “not to worry about”.
If I never see this bowling alley again it will be too soon…
